Way out west's 'Killa' gets a Guy J treatment!

The original is, ofcourse, one hell of an opener and a beautiful progressive monster. On forehand you know its not going to be as a rough ride as the original, when Guy J remixes a track like Killa.

The track just flows right in from the Guy mantzur track. Less percussion in here than in the previous track, but it surprises you with those gorgeous female humming vocals and the tribal chanting! All the original parts are here. The bassline rolls warm but throbbing, the lovely melody is present in a very subtile way.

This is a remix that respects the original, but still shows the remixers identity.

What does Progressive mean

First things first, the word “progressive” is an adjective that gives some quality characteristics to the noun. In music, the words like this were introduced to describe a certain mood of the genre, for example:
Deep - House
Hard - Techno
Uplifting - Trance
Progressive - Psy

Eventually, these words became part of the genre names, but their original meaning hasn’t changed.

Talking about progressive specifically, it gives a sense of... well, you guessed it, — progression. Whereas in some other genres you just want to skip forward and finally listen to “that drop”, in Progressive music that sense of progression and immersive building-up is the goal itself. It’s very consistent, often with no climax or big emotional peaks which other genres typically have.

And the difference is not only in aesthetic. In progressive music, a sequence (whether it be a melody or, let’s say, a pad) lasts much longer, sometimes it can go pretty much the entire track duration as the opposite to non-progressive music which typically changes sequences every 16 or 32 bars.

A solid masterpiece by two great friends!
It starts of promising at least! By 01:02 the beat hits and drags us into its trippy atmosphere… This is going to be a trippy affaire, folks. Enter 02:04, a typical Bolierian xylophone like instrument starts playing whilst the background pad reveals the outlines of a melody. 3 minutes in we reach the breakdown. The rich background textures that have defined the album are ever present, albeit less glitch fx like in the album’s opener. Subtly that build-up pad is backed by a few tuned down counterparts which don’t fully tread to the center stage until after the climax. A very dreamy, Progressive team-up from Leon and Sied which perfectly fits the flow of the album. After 7 minutes it breaks off into lesser elements until we are left with a pretty bouncy percussion groove… You’ve just gotta love how sophisticated this track progresses from start to finish! And that’s five straight beauties for WSTLNDR. He’s on a roll, isn’t he?

Не совсем привычный для меня формат, но приятен своеобразный Retro Lounge, и смысл слов, и название - эзотерика.

К названиям разных музыкальных стилей иногда можно добавить прилагательное progressive, чтобы уточнить, какой подстиль имеется в виду. Так, бывает progressive house, progressive breaks или progressive trance. Progressive house — одно из ответвлений хаус-музыки, как и tech house, disco house, deep house.

Ещё в русском языке есть удивительный в своей бессмысленности термин «прогрессивная музыка». Прогрессивная музыка — это такая музыка для «прогрессивной» молодёжи. То есть, крутая музыка для крутых парней и девчонок.

Прилагательное «прогрессивный», наделяемое смыслом «современный», «модный», «актуальный», для русскоговорящего человека автоматически переносит свой смысл и на английское слово progressive, и поэтому progressive house кажется не просто хаусом, а таким очень «прогрессивным» хаусом. При этом все прекрасно понимают, что слово «прогрессивный» никакого конкретного смысла не несёт, и поэтому считают, что такое определение музыкального стиля лишено всяких оснований. Действительно, что значит «передовой хаус»?
