    Альбом Waiting for Cousteau отличается от других работ Жана уклоном в эмбиент, в этом жанре написана 47-минутная заглавная композиция. Из-за существенного отличия от других альбомов в стилистике (в особенности, заглавной композиции, которую назвали новаторской), критики признали данный альбом - одной из величайших работ композитора.

    Waiting for Cousteau («В ожидании Кусто») - седьмой студийный альбом Жана-Мишеля Жарра, вышедший в 1990 году. Альбом посвящён французскому морскому исследователю Жаку-Иву Кусто и вышел в его 80-й день рождения, 11 июня 1990 г.

    Первоначально альбом должен был называться Cousteau on the beach («Кусто на пляже»), но позже название было изменено, так как по мнению Кусто общественные пляжи наносят вред окружающей среде. Название En attendant Cousteau является обыгрышем названия пьесы Сэмюэля Беккета «В ожидании Годо» (En attendant Godot).

    - На виниловой пластинке, одноимённая заглавная композиция была обрезана на 20-й минуте, из-за нехватки места.
    - Так-же используется в качестве музыкального сопровождения к документальному фильму «Палаван: последний оплот».
    - В отличии от треков 1-3, которые были записаны на Coral studio, Port of Spain, (сведены на Guillame Tell studio, Paris, звукорежиссёрами - Дени Ванзетто, Бруно Мильона), этот трек был записан и сведен Жаном-Мишелем Жарром на Croissy studio, France.

    Mathias Grassow Родился в Висбадене (Германия) в 1963 году. С самого начала музыка всегда была его главной страстью. Ещё в 70-х он играл на ударных и на гитаре, а в ранних 80-х переключился на клавишные. Матиас оказался полностью очарован бесконечными возможностями и уникальной гибкостью синтезаторов и вообще электронной музыки, которую он начал создавать сам, в стиле традиционной немецкой электроники и «New Age».

    В конце 80-х Матиас начал работать в стиле «Drone Ambient». Используя бесконечные обертоны и многочисленные эффекты, он исследовал их воздействие на человеческое сознание подобно древнеиндийской «Надх-Йога». Помимо синтезаторов он использует различные перкуссии, цитры, флейты, гитары, поющие чаши, свой собственный голос и некоторые самостоятельно сконструированные инструменты.

    Я никогда не был сторонником излишней техничности. Моя музыка – алхимический процесс, продолжающийся более 30 лет. Моя цель – затронуть людей самим событием, а не развлечением. Музыка воспринимается с помощью ушей, но способна коснуться самого сердца. Klaus Wiese говорил, что музыка не должна служить развлечением или поражать слушателя своей красотой. Она – для тех, кто понимает, что один цветок может быть прекраснее, чем множество цветов. В музыке время останавливается, она притягивает безвременность. Слушая ее всей душой, словно получаешь божественный дар. Я следую традициям индийской Нада-йоги и ничего не планирую в своих композициях. Мои концерты – импровизации, поэтому я могу играть все что угодно, в зависимости от моего настроения и аудитории.
